Circuit Laws

All electronic circuits obey certain fundamental laws.

    Ohm's Law

  • Since resistors dissipate power.

    Kirchoff's Voltage & Current Laws

  • The sum of the voltage drops around a closed circuit is zero.
  • The sum of all the currents going into and out of a circuit node is zero.

    Faraday's Law of Induction

  • This implies that ideal inductors do not dissipate power.

    Gauss's Law

  • This implies that ideal capacitors do not dissipate power.
